Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle has announced the signing of Tamil Nadu-born defender Edwin Sydney Vanspaul for the upcoming ISL 2024-25 season. Edwin, a former player of the team, becomes the squad's 14th signing.
The 32-year-old right-back returns to the Marina Arena, having previously represented Chennaiyin FC from 2019 to 2023. He will join a strong defensive unit led by Ryan Edwards, Mandar Rao Desai, and PC Laldinpuia. Edwin is well-acquainted with Coyle, having played under him in a prior stint. Expressing his delight, Coyle stated, ''Absolutely delighted to bring Edwin back to the club. He's CFC through and through.''
Edwin is eager to return to his previous form at CFC and contribute to the team's success. He was a key player during Chennai City's I-League title win in 2019 and has represented Chennaiyin FC 78 times, scoring three goals. After a season with East Bengal, Edwin looks forward to making a significant impact in his homecoming.
