IndiGo Airlines issued an apology on Saturday after passengers on the Delhi-Varanasi flight grappled with discomfort due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system. The airline noted that the AC was functioning but a temperature shift heated up the cabin, leading to panic among passengers.

"We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced on flight 6E 2235 operating from Delhi to Varanasi on September 5, 2024," read a press statement from IndiGo. The discomfort was linked to temperature fluctuations, which were adjusted upon passenger requests. Our cabin crew promptly extended assistance to address the situation, the statement added.

A video of the incident, which happened on Thursday, shows passengers in severe discomfort. Several reportedly fainted due to intense heat and suffocation, with some using magazines to cool themselves.

In a similar incident in June, a Delhi-Bagdogra flight saw the AC malfunction for an hour, causing elderly passengers to face breathing issues and leading to widespread discomfort. IndiGo's statement on the matter emphasized that passenger safety remains a priority and they regret the inconvenience caused by factors beyond their control.
