West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose has criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not submitting a technical report alongside the Aparajita Bill, which was passed by the State Assembly. According to protocol, the government is obligated to provide this report before the Governor can approve the bill. The Governor accused the State Secretariat of misleading the public to cover up governmental lapses.
The Governor took immediate action on the Aparajita Bill and reprimanded the Chief Minister for not following the regulations. He emphasized that the failure to submit the technical report is not a first-time offense, and admonished the government for neglecting important procedures. Bose also pointed out that the Bengal Bill seems to be a replica of similar bills from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Arunachal Pradesh, some of which are still awaiting presidential assent.
Governor Bose also took issue with Mamata Banerjee's threats of organizing a Dharna, calling them political gimmicks at a crucial time in Bengal's history. Bose expressed disappointment over the administration's handling of a recent rape-murder case at RG Kar Medical College, stating that a part of the police force is criminalized and politicized. He stressed the need for judicial justice and described the current administration as moving from one mistake to another.
