Amid heavy rainfall in Gujarat, several parts of Gandhinagar experienced severe waterlogging, disrupting traffic on Tuesday. Visuals from Sector-13 Gandhinagar showed the Mahatma Mandir under-bridge heavily waterlogged and causing traffic jams. Despite the hazardous conditions, many vehicles attempted to navigate the flooded roads, while others were forced to turn back.

On August 30, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel traveled to the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center from Vadodara after receiving forecasts of heavy rains and potential storms. Patel reviewed the preparedness for the natural calamity via a video conference with the District Collector and issued urgent instructions to evacuate vulnerable areas to safeguard residents.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi convened a meeting on Monday to discuss flood relief efforts in Vadodara. Speaking to ANI, Sanghavi assured that the state government was coordinating with insurance companies to provide necessary assistance to the affected population. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the delivery of relief materials to flood-affected residents.

"A meeting was convened to discuss the flood situation," Sanghavi told ANI. "Details were taken on the restoration process. The first round of restoration has been completed, and in the second round, it will be ensured that the people affected by floods get the required assistance from insurance companies. Relief material provision is being ensured for the flood-affected people."

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had also commenced relief operations for the flood-hit regions in Gujarat. Humanitarian air and disaster relief efforts were deployed, including transport aircraft and helicopters like Chetaks and Cheetahs, which were positioned for immediate action.

On September 1, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed gratitude for the Indian Army's assistance in the rescue operations amid the flood-like situation, stating, "The help of the Indian Army has added great vigor to the state government's rescue operations." (ANI)
