The Meteorological Office has issued an alert for very heavy rainfall in five districts of Madhya Pradesh within the next 24 hours. The affected districts are Burhanpur, Khargone, Dewas, Harda, and Betul. This was confirmed by a regional meteorologist who also warned of heavy rainfall in 22 other districts during the same period.

BS Yadav, a meteorologist at IMD Bhopal, explained that a depression in East Vidarbha and nearby areas, coupled with a trough line connecting Sriganganagar in Rajasthan to Gondia, is fueling the rainfall. Moisture from both the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal is contributing to the cloudy weather and precipitation in the region. The system is expected to shift northwards, lessening its impact thereafter.

According to the regional meteorological office, areas like Alirajpur and Barwani may experience moderate thunderstorms with lightning in the forenoon hours. Additionally, light rain is expected in regions such as Jhabua, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, and Betul. Recent data shows Khargone recorded 104.2 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while other areas such as Khandwa, Ujjain, and Indore also saw significant rainfall.
