The representatives of the Milad-Un-Nabi Committee agreed on Thursday to hold the Milad-un-Nabi procession on September 19, following a grand celebration of Prophet Mohammad's birthday on September 16. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy chaired a review meeting on the Milad-Un-Nabi arrangements at the State Secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting also covered the schedule of the Ganesh Navaratri festival, set to take place from September 7 to September 17. The Chief Minister and other ministers suggested that the Milad Committee consider postponing the Milad Un Nabi procession to avoid overlap.
Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, Adviser to Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, and MIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi were tasked with discussing the proposed postponement with the Milad Committee. The committee members later conveyed their agreement to the government's request.
The Milad Un Nabi Committee mentioned that Prophet Mohammad's 1499th birth anniversary will be observed on September 16. They also sought permission from the Chief Minister to organize year-long celebrations of the Prophet's 1500th birth anniversary next year, to which the Chief Minister assured support following regulatory guidelines.
When the committee sought approval for mosque decorations and district-centre processions, the Chief Minister advised them to compile a detailed list for submission. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari was directed to oversee the arrangements and take necessary actions.
The review meeting saw participation from Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, DGP Jitender, and other officials. (ANI)
