Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Urges Conservation Amid Flood Crisis

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has voiced grave concerns over natural calamities such as floods, landslides, and torrential rains affecting Uttarakhand and Telangana, attributing them to environmental destruction. In a statement on Tuesday, the CM warned that nature retaliates when ecosystems are disrupted, citing the inundation of colonies from lake and pond encroachments.

Reddy emphasized the urgent need to remove encroachments around lakes statewide, stating the government's unwavering commitment to demolishing illegal structures on water bodies. He directed officials to compile a comprehensive report on lake and pond encroachments and to resolve any pending court cases. The chief minister pointed to the successful removal of encroachments in Hyderabad's Ram Nagar area, which helped mitigate flood risks.

The CM also paid a visit to the family of young scientist Nunawat Ashwini, who tragically died alongside her father in recent floods. Offering condolences, he assured Ashwini's family of government support, including potential employment for her brother and housing under the Indiramma scheme. Reddy further promised a scientific survey of the Akeru River, new infrastructure, and compensation for affected farmers.
