In a significant maritime development, the Indian Navy's frontline warship INS 'Mumbai' docked at Colombo port on Monday, coinciding with the arrival of three Chinese Navy vessels at the same harbour in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Naval Ship 'Mumbai', on a three-day visit to the island nation, was welcomed with traditional naval honours by the Sri Lanka Navy, marking its first-ever docking at a Sri Lankan port. This visit also signifies the eighth port call by Indian naval ships in Sri Lanka this year.
Meanwhile, three Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy warships—'HE FEI', 'WUZHISHAN', and 'QILIANSHAN'—also berthed at Colombo port for an official visit. INS Mumbai—a 163-metre-long destroyer manned by 410 crew members—will engage in various joint activities with the Sri Lanka Navy, including a Passage Exercise on its departure.
