In the wake of the alleged gang rape of a minor girl in Dhing, Assam, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has called on the state government to take responsibility for the safety of women. Speaking to ANI, the Jorhat MP expressed society's outrage over the crime involving a minor in Nagaon.

Gogoi urged medical staff to ensure the victim receives proper care. He emphasized standing with the victim's family and the demand for harsh punishment for the perpetrators. Highlighting repeated incidents in Assam, Gogoi criticized the state's law and order, deeming it 'completely weak.' Security personnel have been deployed in Nagaon to maintain peace.

Meanwhile, locals in Dhing have staged an indefinite hunger strike in protest. The body of Tafazul Islam, the prime accused, was found in a pond after he reportedly escaped custody. The incident has led to the arrest of two individuals, deepening the unrest in the region.
