RB Leipzig are eager to bolster their trophy collection this season, but their primary focus will continue to be on developing and selling top young talent, according to Marcel Schaefer, the club's managing director for sport. Competing in the Champions League for the sixth consecutive season, Leipzig recently sold Spain international Dani Olmo to Barcelona for over 50 million euros, reaffirming their reputation for nurturing young players.

In previous seasons, the Saxony-based club has seen young talents like Josko Gvardiol, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Christopher Nkunku move to Europe's biggest clubs. 'Our philosophy is to support young, talented players, elevate them, and sell them,' Schaefer stated in a media roundtable this week. He emphasized that Leipzig aims to attract top talents, offering them a platform for growth and development.

Leipzig's successful start to the season includes three wins in three games across all competitions, including a victory over Bayer Leverkusen. While acknowledging the room for improvement, Schaefer expressed the club's ambition to compete for titles in all competitions this season. Leipzig is set to host Union Berlin on Saturday and kick off their Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid next week.
