The European Commission has declined requests from Hungary and Slovakia to mediate their consultation process with Ukraine over sanctions imposed on Russian oil producer Lukoil, a Commission spokesperson announced on Friday.

"Commission services have preliminarily concluded that urgent consultations do not appear to be warranted," the spokesperson stated.
