In a strategic move to counter the resurgence of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army and other security agencies have redeployed troops and special forces to higher areas south of Pir Panjal. More than 10 battalions and over 500 Special Forces operatives are now in place to confront terrorist activities instigated by the Pakistan Army, according to security agency sources.

Sources reveal that these troops are actively searching forested regions, aiming to locate and neutralize terrorists hiding in natural caves and man-made underground hideouts. The objective is to intercept terrorists before they can descend and target civilians or security forces.

An enhanced human intelligence grid, bolstered by new police officials, and a fortified presence of central police forces have strengthened the region's defenses. Despite suffering casualties due to previous troop redeployments, the Indian Army's induction of armoured and mine-protected vehicles has further enhanced security. Revised standard operating procedures across the Jammu division, including Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, and Doda districts, have put all troops on high alert to prevent any terror attacks.

Security agencies have identified over-ground workers and terrorist sympathizers, taking measures to curb local support for terrorism through area domination and other strategies. Top Army officials have recently reviewed the terror situation and briefed senior leadership on ongoing actions.
