In a significant development, a Delhi court on Friday framed charges against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the alleged murder of three individuals during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi's Pul Bangash area. These events followed the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.

On November 1, 1984, three people were killed by a mob near the Pul Bangash gurudwara. Over the years, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed three closure reports against Tytler, all of which were rejected by special courts.

The case saw renewed activity on May 20, 2023, when the CBI filed a charge sheet against Tytler. Subsequent court proceedings included Tytler's summoning on July 26, anticipatory bail on August 4, and his appearance in court on August 5. On August 30, 2024, the court ordered the framing of charges, with Tytler pleading not guilty on September 13.
