In an unprecedented public admission, Pakistan's serving army chief, General Asim Munir, has acknowledged the military's involvement in the 1999 Kargil conflict with India. Speaking during Defence and Martyrs Day in Rawalpindi, Munir listed the Kargil war as one of the significant battles with their eastern neighbor.

General Munir emphasized the army's role in safeguarding Pakistan, backed by the nation's support. He referenced multiple Indo-Pak conflicts, including the wars of 1948, 1965, 1971, and the Siachen conflict, commending the bravery of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country's security.

This acknowledgment aligns with the 2006 revelations in Pervez Musharraf's book 'In The Line Of Fire,' which detailed the army's role, including the deployment of the Northern Light Infantry in the Kargil region.
