Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday called on tax officers to adopt simpler language in income tax communications. She emphasized that tax notices should not incite fear among taxpayers.

Addressing the 165th Income Tax Day celebration, Sitharaman advised against disproportionate actions and recommended fair use of enforcement measures. She urged tax officers to be clear and straightforward in their communications.
