Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday lambasted BJP leaders for their protest against Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of falsely interpreting his stance on reservation as anti-reservation.
Siddaramaiah drew a parallel between the BJP's protest and butchers opposing animal cruelty, emphasizing past instances when BJP resisted reservation policies. He referred to the BJP's 'Kamandal' movement during V P Singh's implementation of the Mandal Commission report as an example.
Siddaramaiah reiterated that the goal of reservations is to ensure equal opportunities in education and employment. He called for a nationwide caste census to evaluate the impact of reservations and questioned BJP's commitment to social justice.
