An anti-terror operation targeting highly trained militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur region extended into its second day on Tuesday. Security forces, alongside Jammu and Kashmir Police, have been resolutely pursuing the militants to neutralize them.

On Monday, militants launched an attack on a joint patrol team in the Cheel area of Dudu, resulting in the martyrdom of CRPF Inspector Kuldeep Kumar. Udhampur police reported, "During area domination patrol at Chill, Dudu, an exchange of fire occurred between terrorists and joint forces of the JKP and CRPF. One CRPF Inspector sustained bullet injuries and has been martyred. The operation continues."

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held in honor of the fallen Inspector. Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, emphasized the mission's difficulties, citing the dense jungle terrain and poor network coverage. "Despite these challenges, we are determined to complete our duty and secure the area," he said. Modern technology, including drones, is being utilized to aid in the search efforts.

Security has been significantly heightened across the region. The CRPF expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Inspector Kumar, praising his courage and dedication. Search operations continue aggressively, underscoring the persistent security complexities as the region approaches its upcoming assembly elections.
