Security Forces Foil Secessionist Plots Along LoC in Kupwara

Security forces have successfully thwarted two infiltration attempts along the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of three terrorists, officials said on Thursday.
'One terrorist has been confirmed eliminated (in the Tangdhar operation), while two others were killed in the ongoing anti-infiltration operation in the general area of Machhal, Kupwara. Along with the eliminations, forces recovered two AK Rifles, one pistol, and four hand grenades,' Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on its X handle.
Search operations were underway at both locations. Police officials noted that the operations were launched on August 28 based on specific intelligence inputs received by Kupwara Police. The police had maintained vigilant surveillance, gathering ground human intelligence regarding infiltration attempts, officials added.
'Intelligence inputs about simultaneous infiltration attempts from the Karnah and Kumkadi sectors were shared with the concerned army units, leading to joint ambushes by JKP and the army,' officials stated. Suspicious movements were detected around 7:30 pm and 9 pm, respectively, leading to exchanges of fire that lasted through the night, culminating in the discovery of three bodies. This is the sixth successful operation in Kupwara this year, resulting in ten terrorist fatalities, all foreign nationals.
