In a heartwarming celebration of Raksha Bandhan, women from Soni Village in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir tied Rakhi to Indian army personnel stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday. The women expressed their gratitude, referring to the soldiers as their brothers, who ensure the safety of their borders. In response, the soldiers pledged to protect and safeguard the residents from any harm.

Seerat Bano, a local resident, remarked, 'We sisters have tied Rakhi to our brothers for protecting us across the borders.' Raksha Bandhan, a traditional Hindu festival, celebrates the love and bond between brothers and sisters, where sisters tie Rakhi around their brothers' wrists, and in return, brothers offer gifts as symbols of love and care.

Nazir Ahmad, another local villager, emphasized the festival's significance, describing it as an emblem of peace and harmony. 'This festival gives the message of peace and brotherhood. We live on the border and we stand by our Indian army who protect us. This festival represents the same brotherhood,' he said.

Earlier on August 17, schoolgirls near the Akhnoor border also celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying Rakhi to army personnel, applying Tilak, and offering sweets. PM Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the nation, expressing hope that the festival brings sweetness to relationships and prosperity in life.
