Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched a scathing attack on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government over its handling of the Maratha reservation issue. Shinde asserted that the MVA's failure to present vital evidence in the Supreme Court led to the rejection of the Maratha reservation proposal.
In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Shinde highlighted the Maratha community's social, educational, and economic backwardness. He recalled that during Devendra Fadnavis's tenure, the reservation was approved by the High Court. The MVA government, he claimed, not only failed to uphold the reservation but also used the Maratha community merely for political leverage.
Shinde dismissed concerns that reservation issues would impact the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. He emphasized the need for a harmonious coexistence between the Maratha and OBC communities, ensuring both benefit from governmental provisions. The Maratha Reservation Bill, aiming to provide a 10 per cent quota, was passed on February 20.
