BRS Working President and MLA Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao has extended his solidarity to doctors protesting for justice following the rape and murder of a trainee-doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. In a post on X, Rao condemned the incident as 'shocking' and assured full support to the victim's family and friends.

Rama Rao expressed confidence in the Mamata Banerjee-led government's efforts to apprehend the perpetrator and deliver justice. 'My solidarity is with the protesting doctors. If doctors can't be safe in hospitals, will our daughters ever be safe anywhere,' he questioned in his statement.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) launched a nationwide strike on Monday, with doctors from major hospitals rallying to demand justice. FORDA General Secretary Sarvesh Pandey revealed that around three lakh doctors are participating and will continue until their demands, including a CBI inquiry and fast-track court proceedings, are met. FORDA President Dr. Aviral Mathur emphasized that while emergency services remain operational, the strike will persist until a written assurance is received from authorities.
