On Monday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan acknowledged challenges in the agriculture sector, pledging to engage in dialogues with farmers and their unions to find solutions. 'We will move towards solutions through dialogues. We will go ahead by taking everyone together,' Chouhan stated during a discussion on the working of the agriculture ministry in the Rajya Sabha. He assured that no effort would be spared in advancing the welfare of agriculture and farmers.

Meanwhile, the Congress announced intentions to file a privilege motion against Minister Chouhan, alleging he misled the House. During a press conference, Congress MPs Randeep Singh Surjewala and Digvijaya Singh accused Chouhan of providing false information. Surjewala cited a 2015 Supreme Court affidavit where the BJP government stated that minimum support price (MSP) plus fifty percent on input costs was not feasible, contradicting Chouhan's statements.

Defending the government's actions, Chouhan criticized the opposition for not prioritizing farmers while highlighting the achievements of schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. 'Due to this Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers have become self-reliant and their respect has increased,' he argued, emphasizing the importance of the Rs. 6000 assistance for small farmers.
