Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday mourned the demise of CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, acknowledging his key role in the formation of the UPA-1 government and his influence on critical policy issues.
Yechury, who passed away at AIIMS in New Delhi after a prolonged illness, was lauded by the Chief Minister as a fine human being and a multilingual scholar whose contributions enriched public life. Siddaramaiah noted Yechury's significant involvement in the creation of the INDIA bloc and his respected stature in the Rajya Sabha.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also paid homage, emphasizing Yechury's amiable nature and steadfast conviction, stating that his presence will be missed.
