Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar stated on Tuesday that the Mekedatu dam project would be beneficial for Tamil Nadu, especially with the recent favorable monsoon system providing solace to both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Shivakumar noted the copious inflows into the Cauvery river led to Tamil Nadu receiving surplus water from Karnataka, reinforcing the benefits of the Mekedatu reservoir. However, he refrained from discussing the controversial project further, hoping for a positive outcome.
Alongside, Shivakumar led a delegation of over 15 officials to Chennai to examine their solid waste management systems and CNG production. Impressed with Chennai's cleaning facilities, he commended their unique approach, with insights planned for Bengaluru's waste management improvements. The team also visited Mahashakti Bio-Enercon's biogas facility and Urbraser's waste disposal operations, noting their potential for enhancing Bengaluru's energy efficiency and waste management.
