The ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala has vehemently denied allegations from the opposition Congress, which claimed Additional Director General of Police M R Ajithkumar served as an intermediary between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to disrupt the Thrissur Pooram festival and aid the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate's Lok Sabha poll victory in Thrissur.

CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan labeled the accusations as fabricated, intended to divert attention from Congress' lackluster showing in the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat, where they placed third. Govindan underscored the historical enmity between CPI(M) and the RSS, which has purportedly resulted in the deaths of numerous Left party workers.

The claims from Congress, led by Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan, suggested the Chief Minister dispatched ADGP Ajithkumar to meet RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale to evade central investigations and broker a political deal. Govindan responded that the CPI(M) has no connections with the RSS or BJP, asserting it is the Congress that holds such affiliations.
