Congress MP Deepender Hooda on Friday leveled serious accusations against Haryana's BJP government, claiming it has betrayed the people over the past decade. Hooda confidently asserted that the Congress will secure a substantial victory in the state Assembly elections anticipated later this year.

'BJP has betrayed the people of Haryana in the last 10 years. I think the Congress party will form the government in Haryana with a huge majority. People have made up their minds,' Hooda told ANI.

When queried about a potential alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP), Hooda was firm in denying any such plan, citing SP's lack of significant presence in Haryana. 'The Samajwadi Party has no mass base in Haryana. We have an alliance at the national level but today we have no alliance with the Samajwadi Party at the state level,' he clarified.

Hooda emphasized that Congress workers are diligently campaigning across the state to spotlight the BJP government's 'failures.' Despite the optimism about an electoral victory, Hooda stressed that the Congress remains cautious against overconfidence. He reported increased support for the Congress from all societal segments.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), another member of the INDIA bloc, announced its plan to contest the upcoming Assembly elections independently. AAP and Congress previously shared seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Present at a Chandigarh press conference, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, 'The Aam Aadmi Party has decided that it will contest the Haryana assembly elections with full force.'

Mann emphasized the strategic position of Haryana and called on voters to bring in AAP leadership. 'Half of Haryana touches Delhi and half of Haryana touches Punjab. The people of Haryana appealed to us, that's why we came here. Haryana gave a chance to the BJP, Congress and all parties, but everyone looted. Now bring Kejriwal,' Mann stated.

Haryana is one of eight states scheduled to hold legislative assembly elections this year. Currently governed by the BJP-Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) coalition, the state's elections are expected by October 2024 as the current Assembly's term ends on November 3, 2024. The official election schedule is yet to be announced.
