An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast by Naxalites resulted in the tragic death of two security personnel in the tri-junction area of Bastar-Bijapur-Sukma, said IG Bastar Sundarraj P. The explosion, which occurred on Thursday, left two STF jawans fatally wounded. Four others injured in the attack received primary treatment in Bijapur before being transferred to Raipur for further care.

IG Bastar Sundarraj P confirmed that the injured jawans are now out of danger and that a search operation for the Naxalites is ongoing in the region. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences and reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue fighting Maoism until it is eradicated. "The Naxalites are disturbed by our campaign to eliminate Maoism and are resorting to cowardly acts. The martyrdom of our soldiers will not be in vain," he stated on social media platform X.

The deceased jawans, Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur, were returning from an anti-Naxal operation when they were attacked. Additional security forces have been deployed to the area to ensure the proper treatment of the injured personnel and to heighten security measures.

In a related development, security forces discovered 12 bodies of Naxals, including DVCM Laxman Atram, also known as Vishal Atram, the in-charge of Tipagad Dalam, and seized seven automatic firearms. During the encounter, one police sub-inspector (PSI) from the C60 unit and one jawan were injured but are reported to be out of danger after being shifted to Nagpur for medical treatment.
