Union Home Minister Amit Shah will embark on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh from August 23, where he will oversee a series of high-profile meetings focused on anti-Naxal operations and interstate coordination, according to officials.
Amit Shah is set to arrive in Raipur late on August 23 and return to Delhi by the evening of August 25, informed an official from the Press Information Bureau.
On August 24, Shah will visit the ashram of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya in Champaran town. He will subsequently chair a meeting with Chief Secretaries and Director Generals of Police from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states to enhance interstate coordination.
Further, Shah will preside over discussions on security and developmental issues in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas. The next day, he is scheduled to inaugurate a new office of the Narcotics Control Bureau at 10:30 am in Raipur and conduct a review meeting there.
The Union minister, who also manages the cooperation portfolio, will then focus on expanding the cooperative sector in Chhattisgarh. Anti-Naxalite operations have gained momentum since the BJP's assembly election victory last year, with security forces killing 142 Naxalites in various encounters this year.
