Veteran director Sudhir Mishra has come forward to defend Anubhav Sinha's series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack', which has been mired in controversy.

The show, which dramatizes the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight IC 814, sparked a backlash after some viewers objected to the use of Hindu code names for the terrorists, calling it a distortion of historical events. Netflix responded by updating the show's disclaimer to include both real and code names of the hijackers.

Mishra, a close friend of Sinha, praised the series for its thoughtful creation and emphasized Sinha's patriotic credentials, adding that criticism of Sinha was unjustified. Mishra further explained that the humane portrayal of terrorists was an essential part of effective storytelling.
