Sharad Pawar, President of NCP (SP), declared on Sunday that the opposition will not rest until they have dislodged the Mahayuti government from power in Maharashtra within the next two months to establish a new administration based on Shivaji's principles.
During an address at Ghatkopar in Mumbai, Pawar lambasted the state government over the collapse of the Shivaji statue in Sindhudurg district on August 26. He accused the ruling coalition of lacking faith in Shivaji Maharaj. The Mahayuti alliance includes BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP.
Highlighting the scandal surrounding the 35-foot statue's fall at Rajkot fort, Pawar pointed to allegations of corruption and poor craftsmanship. He criticized the government, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has since apologised. Pawar stated, 'Shivaji has never been insulted like this under any previous government.'
