Actress Radhika Sarathkumar has urged top actors to speak out regarding the Justice Hema Committee report, which highlights sexual harassment and casting couch practices in the Malayalam film industry.
She emphasized that such support would uplift actresses who have faced maltreatment. "A simple statement from male actors, who are the most highly paid, would give hope to those who have suffered harassment," Radhika said, pointing out that she has encouraged her husband, actor R. Sarathkumar, to show his support.
The Hema Committee, formed after a 2017 actress assault case, uncovered exploitation and discrimination against women in the film industry. Radhika's call follows her own experience of clarifying allegations about hidden cameras on a film set to a Special Investigating Team, for which she did not file a formal complaint.
She stressed the need for an end to unfair practices and for mechanisms to ensure women's safety in the industry.
