Maharashtra Minister Reviews Monsoon Damage in Latur

Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan on Monday reviewed the damage caused by recent rains in Latur and directed district officials to conduct immediate surveys and submit a comprehensive report, according to an official statement.
Within a 24-hour period ending at 8 am, Latur district recorded an average rainfall of 68.3 millimeters, bringing the season's total rainfall to 676.1 mm. The minister, who oversees the district, conducted the review through a video-conference and stressed the importance of taking precautions, especially in villages situated along rivers.
Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, Zilla Parishad CEO Anmol Sagar, Resident Deputy Collector Keshav Netke, and District Agriculture Superintendent Ramesh Jadhav apprised Mahajan of the damage. He assured that every distressed farmer would receive relief. Several revenue divisions reported heavy rain on Sunday, resulting in rising water levels in streams and rivers, said Thakur-Ghuge.
