At least 16 people died in various rain-related incidents as torrential rains hit Telangana, with preliminary damage estimates at Rs 5,000 crore. The state government has sought an immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore from the Centre.

The incessant rainfall led to the inundation of low-lying areas, damaged agricultural crops, and disrupted the state's rail and road connections with neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to the kin of those killed and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas and declare the floods as a national calamity.

In view of further rainfall forecasts, the CM directed district officials to remain on alert and move people from low-lying areas to relief camps if necessary. Restoration work on rail services is ongoing, but delays are likely if rain continues.
