Film director Aparna Sen, along with other notable figures from the Bengali film industry, joined a gigantic rally in Kolkata, urging justice for a trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar hospital last month. The demonstration saw thousands marching through the streets, demanding a thorough probe into the heinous crime.
Participants of the 'Mahamichhil', which included prominent actors, activists, and concerned citizens, converged at Esplanade, chanting slogans like 'Justice' and 'Halla Bol'. They vowed to continue their protest until early Monday morning, seeking a meeting with representatives of the ruling party or administration.
Additional rallies were organized in south Kolkata by alumni of Ramakrishna Mission and St. John's Diocesan Girls' Higher Secondary School, further amplifying the call for justice. Protesters carried symbolic banners and formed human chains, emphasizing the need for thorough investigation and arrests. Meanwhile, other political factions, including TMC and BJP, staged their protests across the city.
