India named an experienced squad for the Women's T20 World Cup on Tuesday, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, with hopes of securing an elusive ICC trophy.
All members except Uma Chetry, who were part of the unsuccessful Asia Cup campaign, have been retained for the event starting October 3 in the UAE. The event was relocated from Bangladesh due to student protests.
Spin all-rounder Shreyanka Patil and top-order batter Yastika Bhatia are included subject to fitness. Patil had fractured her finger in the Asia Cup, and Bhatia is recovering from a knee injury. Following a loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final, Kaur faces pressure to win the title. The squad features spinners like Deepti Sharma, Asha Sobhana, and Radha Yadav, while the pace department includes Renuka Singh and Arundhati Reddy.
