A bandh organized by various right-wing groups in Latur city, Maharashtra, expressing solidarity with Hindus in Bangladesh, went off peacefully on Saturday without any untoward incidents.
As a precautionary measure, all schools and colleges in the city declared a holiday, while traders and shopkeepers closed their establishments until the afternoon in support of the bandh, which was organized under the aegis of Sakal Hindu Samaj, according to officials.
A rally commenced from Ganjgolai, culminating at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. Thousands of Hindu community members participated, chanting slogans and holding placards decrying the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Police maintained a strict vigil across various localities, and no adverse events were reported. BJP spokesperson Prerna Honrao confirmed the peaceful nature of the shutdown.
