Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rescheduled its public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, originally planned for September 15, ARY News reported. The event is now set for September 22, as the party awaits permission from the Deputy Commissioner.
PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub, through Barrister Ahmad Salman Niazi, requested the date change to September 22 in observance of the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. The party had initially asked for permission to hold the gathering in September but rescheduled due to objections. PTI had also canceled its August 27 event because of permit issues, citing ARY News.
Similarly, an August public meeting in Islamabad was canceled after the government revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC). The public meeting scheduled for August 22 in Tarnol was postponed due to the administration's decision, following a recommendation by the Intelligence Committee, chaired by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. The district government attributed permit denials to the demands of religious organizations for protests, according to ARY News.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced plans for public rallies in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. After a successful power show in Swabi, the PTI aims to stage further events in the three major cities as part of their campaign to secure Imran Khan's release.
Barrister Gohar reiterated that PTI will continue its efforts on multiple fronts to ensure Imran Khan's release, both through legal avenues and public gatherings. (ANI)
