Avani Lekhara, paralyzed waist down after a tragic car accident at the age of 11, would have never taken up shooting if not for her parents' encouragement.

At 22, she is a prominent figure in Indian para sports, determined to secure more medals in rifle events at the upcoming Paris Paralympic Games. Expressing gratitude towards her family, Lekhara spoke about how their support gave her life new meaning during her darkest times.

After trying archery and shooting in 2015 at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.3 in Jaipur, Lekhara's rise was meteoric. She became India's first medalist in shooting at the Tokyo Paralympics, winning gold in the 10m air rifle and bronze in the 50m rifle 3-positions.
