A devastating fire erupted in a hotel in Bucheon, South Korea, on Thursday night, claiming the lives of at least seven people and injuring 12 others, according to local officials.
Kim In-jae, the director of Bucheon's public health department, confirmed that three of the injured are in critical condition, with all the injured receiving medical attention at six local hospitals. Lee Sang-don, an official from Bucheon Fire Station, reported that the nine-story hotel had 23 guests at the time of the incident.
Lee detailed that the fire originated on the eighth floor and was swiftly extinguished by Thursday night. More than 150 firefighters and 46 vehicles were employed to battle the blaze, with emergency personnel continuing their search through the building for additional victims.
