Netflix has unveiled the release date for the eagerly awaited second season of Ryan Murphy's true-crime anthology series, 'Monsters.' The new season, titled 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,' will premiere on September 19, according to a teaser trailer released on the streaming giant's official YouTube channel.

The shift to an anthology format follows the success of 'Dahmer -- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,' which premiered in 2022 and became a major hit. This season centers on the notorious case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted in 1996 for the gruesome murders of their parents, Jose and Mary Louise "Kitty" Menendez. The brothers claimed they acted out of fear stemming from years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, a point they maintain to this day.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will take on the roles of the Menendez brothers, with Javier Bardem and Chloe Sevigny portraying their parents. The cast also includes Nathan Lane as investigative journalist Dominick Dunne and Ari Graynor as criminal defense attorney Leslie Abramson. Directed by Brennan, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, Michael Uppendahl, and Carl Franklin, and involving multiple writers, the producers promise a gripping and insightful look at one of the most infamous criminal cases of the 20th century.
