Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy on Sunday underscored the significant challenge posed by India's rising population, attributing it to a lack of attention to population control since the Emergency period.
Murthy made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the convocation ceremony of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology in Prayagraj. He pointed out that India's sustainability is at risk due to factors such as limited per capita land availability and healthcare facilities.
Highlighting the importance of professional responsibility, Murthy urged the graduates to have high aspirations and work hard toward the nation's progress. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by his own family and teachers, stressing the importance of generational advancement. During the event, 1,670 degrees were awarded, with postgraduate students receiving 34 gold medals and undergraduates receiving 13.
