The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a series of protests following the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, demanding the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar stated that the women's wing will lead a candlelight rally to Banerjee's residence on Friday to demonstrate their discontent with the law and order situation. The rally is set to begin from Hazra crossing and proceed to Kalighat.
Adding pressure, the BJP will also stage a sit-in demonstration near the hospital and organize road blockades across the state. This came in response to the alleged rape and murder of a woman postgraduate trainee doctor, which led to intense protests and vandalism at the hospital.
