Ajeet Kumar Verma to Lead AICF Operations
Ajeet Kumar Verma, currently the secretary of the Delhi Chess Association, is poised to become the new head of operations for the All India Chess Federation (AICF). He was shortlisted alongside Arbind Kumar Singh, and an official announcement is expected soon. Verma brings a rich background in chess and arbitration to the role.
Ajeet Kumar Verma, the incumbent secretary of the Delhi Chess Association, is set to lead operations of the All India Chess Federation (AICF). This announcement follows an interview process involving Verma and Arbind Kumar Singh as the two shortlisted candidates.
AICF vice-president Anil Kumar Raizada confirmed that the interviews had taken place and that an official appointment would be revealed shortly. Sources indicate that Verma is the leading candidate for the role.
Verma, 52, brings substantial experience, having been a FIDE-approved Arbiter since 2017 and a licensed International Arbiter since 2018. He was also the interim secretary of AICF last year ahead of the 2024-27 elections. Upon officially taking up his new role, Verma will report to AICF secretary Dev Patel and manage the organization's daily operations.
