China's Defence Minister, Dong Jun, declared on Friday that China is committed to enhancing military ties with its neighbors, while urging major nations to lead the way in ensuring global security. Dong's comments were delivered during the Xiangshan Forum, China's premier military diplomacy event.
"Major countries must take the lead in safeguarding global security, abandon a zero-sum mindset and refrain from bullying the small and the weak," Dong urged. In his keynote address, he highlighted that in a multipolar world, no country can afford to stand aside as an onlooker.
He further insisted that all countries, regardless of size or development status, should have equal rights to participate in international affairs and defend their interests. Dong underscored China's dedication to promoting substantive military cooperation, particularly with developing nations, in his address to representatives from 90 countries.
