Farmer Strikes Gold with 16.10-Carat Diamond Discovery in Madhya Pradesh

A farmer and three associates unearthed a massive 16.10-carat diamond in Panna, Madhya Pradesh's mine. The farmer, Dilip Mistry, plans to auction the gem to support his family's financial future. Anupam Singh from the Panna diamond office confirmed the find and its pending auction.

The government will deduct its royalty before disbursing proceeds to the discoverers. Despite declining to specify the diamond's expected price, officials are optimistic. Mistry has previously struck luck in the same mine and intends to continue his excavations.

Panna is renowned for its diamond wealth, with an estimated 12 lakh carats of reserves. In a related instance, a labourer found a 19.22-carat diamond in July, underscoring the region's rich potential.
