Sikkim Extends Excavation Ban Amid Heavy Rainfall

The Sikkim government has announced an extension of its ban on all excavation work until September 15, citing heavy rainfall as the cause, according to an official notification.
The Urban Development Department initially implemented the ban on May 1, and it was originally set to last until August 31. However, due to unpredictable climatic conditions and variant rainfall patterns, the ban has now been extended by an additional 15 days.
This extended ban affects construction activities in all notified areas under the Sikkim Allotment of House Sites and Construction of Building (Regulation and Control) Act, 1985, the notification specified.
