Devastating Flooding in Hanoi After Typhoon Yagi Hits Vietnam: Death Toll Climbs to 143

Thousands of residents in Hanoi, Vietnam were evacuated on Wednesday as waters from the swollen Red River flooded streets just days after Typhoon Yagi hit Northern Vietnam. The storm, the most powerful typhoon in Asia this year, made landfall on Vietnam's northern coast on Saturday, causing severe damage.

Hanoi resident Tran Le Quyen, 42, described the situation as the worst flood in 30 years, recounting how she had to move furniture to higher ground. Schools in the area have closed, and emergency evacuations are ongoing as flood levels remain high.

Local authorities report 143 deaths and 58 people missing due to the storm. In Hanoi, the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation office was evacuated, displacing children and families in nearby slum areas. Typhoon Yagi has also severely hit industrial hubs in Northern Vietnam, disrupting global supply chains.
