Actor Glen Powell is set to start filming the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster 'Top Gun: Maverick,' according to a report by People. Powell, during his latest appearance on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, confirmed he has a date for 'Top Gun 3' but remained tight-lipped about specifics.

On the podcast, Powell was joined by his 'Twisters' co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones. When asked about a sequel to Edgar-Jones' 2020 miniseries 'Normal People,' she responded with uncertainty, prompting Powell to jest, 'Okay. Then probably me.'

Host Josh Horowitz probed further, asking Powell if he had any news to break. 'Absolutely not,' Powell replied, redirecting the conversation. The actor is known for his portrayal of Lt. Jake 'Hangman' Seresin in 'Maverick,' a sequel to the 1986 original 'Top Gun.'

The recent installment saw Tom Cruise reprising his iconic role as Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, training a new generation of pilots, including Powell's character, for a perilous mission. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently confirmed to People that while 'Top Gun 3' is in development, no specific production schedule has been set. 'We pitched Tom a story he liked. But he's very busy, so we have to wait and see,' Bruckheimer noted.
