Delhi Lt Governor Halts Eviction of Dalit School, Secures Future for 650 Students
Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has overturned the eviction and sealing of Dr BR Ambedkar Adarsh Vidyalaya — a school for Dalit children. The decision from the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) and the MCD was ruled hasty and politically motivated. The school, serving 650 students, faced closure after a complaint by MLA Ajay Dutt.

Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has halted the eviction and sealing of Dr BR Ambedkar Adarsh Vidyalaya, safeguarding the education of 650 Dalit children, Raj Niwas officials reported Thursday.
Saxena, in his capacity as an Appellate Court, nullified an order from the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) mandating the school, run by the Gandhi Harijan Sewak Samaj, to vacate its premises under contentious allegations of encroachment. The Lt Governor also overturned the subsequent sealing of the school by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
DUSIB's May 17 order demanded the school, situated in South Delhi's Dakshinpuri since 1993, to vacate within 30 days. The institution's closure, spurred by MLA Ajay Dutt's complaint, placed the community at significant risk. Saxena condemned the actions as callous and politically engineered, emphasizing the severe impact on the school's reputation and its 650 students.
