Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal revealed on Friday that skill development centres at Borivali and Kandivali in Mumbai are set to train approximately 10,000 youth in the next three years. He announced that these centres will be open to youth from across various states.

According to Goyal, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from North Mumbai, this initiative aims to make the centres a model for skill development through industry collaboration. The training will cover several vocational courses, including niche areas like hospitality, which is experiencing rapid growth.

Addressing the event, Skill Development Minister Jayant Chaudhary pledged full support for the project. The Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council will manage one of the centres, focusing on AI tech machinery, fashion design, and consulting roles to ensure employment for the trained youth. Chairman A Sakthivel specified that the centre will initially train 2,500 students, with plans to scale up.
